Biography/History:
Born to the wealthy Amell family in Kirkwall, Theia was one of the last nails in the coffin of the family's influence and prestige. When her magic manifested she was sent to the Kirkwall Circle at only four years old, and she has no memory of her parents as a result. She was sent to Ferelden's Circle not even a full year later when it required new talent, and until her Harrowing it was all she ever knew. Her family was the Circle, and her best friend Jowan her brother. She was the kind of child who would get into trouble and get herself out of it with a sweet smile and a careful lie, but she was hardly a rebel by mage standards.

Growing up she felt restless in her own skin, a feeling she didn't understand and worked out of her system through magic and, as she got older, intimate encounters with other apprentices. Her Harrowing didn't quite break any records - there were faster ceremonies, and younger apprentices - but it was one of the most impressive in recent memory. Had her life run the usual course, she might have joined the Libertarian fraternity and worked her way up the Circle hierarchy to Senior Enchanter, but fate had something else in store for her.

When she met the Grey Warden Duncan afterwards she felt a pull toward him, the allure of adventure and freedom--and when Jowan told her he was to be made tranquil she helped him attempt to escape, believing absolutely his promises that he was no blood mage. That ended in tragedy, of course: Jowan an escaped maleficar, his phylactery destroyed; his girlfriend Lily consigned to likely possession at Aeonar; and Theia, left to the fury of the templars but for the timely Blight and Duncan's conscription. Had Duncan survived she might have had a promising, albeit normal, future with the Wardens; as it was, Duncan and the other senior Wardens were all killed at Ostagar, and Theia, though the junior, was made effective leader of the Warden campaign in Ferelden. 

The Blight left a terrible scar on the memory of all who survived it, Theia included; but it was also one of the happiest times of her life. For the first time in her life she could sleep in her own bed under the open sky, first alone and later with Leliana; she could walk where she pleased without someone watching her every step; she had family, friends, and freedom.
